Alocasia Care Tips: Common Questions Answered

We use the Barrina T5 grow lights in various lengths.

At the moment we are experimenting with two methods. #1 is the puddle & riser method and #2 is the corm cup with our perlite/stratum mix. Both have produced great results this far.

One tip we can give you is to peel the half of the corm where the leaf will emerge and dust it with a rooting hormone powder. In our experiments this is sped up the rooting/sprouting process by at least 20% if not more.

At KLL we currently use a 50/50 mix of perlite & fluval stratum. It is wonderful for keeping just the right amount of moisture for young corms to get their start.

PON! A mix of Red Lava Rock, Green Zeolite, Diatomite, Maifanitum, Red Lava Rock & Hard Maifanitum. It can be easily sourced on Amazon.

Our plants are fed with every watering! We mix our distilled water by the gallon and follow the amounts on each of the bottles I'm about to list for you. Fertilizer: Grow Queen, Silica: TPS Plant Foods Silica for Plants & Pest Control: Sierra Natural Sciences: SNS 209.

Sierra Natural Sciences: SNS 209 is a good helper. We also deploy a spray bottle full of 70% Isopropyl Alcohol when there is an outbreak of any kind.

If you want to get really fancy you can mix up a batch of Paige's Sexy Plant Juice. We have been experimenting with it and so far so good! The recipe is from Paige Tailyn on Instagram.

Here's the recipe:

2 cups distilled water

2 TBSP Neem Oil

1 TBSP Peppermint Castille Soap

1 tsp Isopropyl Alcohol
