Tank is our 10 year old Pitbull/ Jack Russell Terrior. In Early May 2026 he stopped eating so we took him to the vet to have his teeth examined and cleaned. However, due to his age they were reluctant to put him under sedation to do the cleaning. They wanted to run some blood tests and make sure he was in tip top shape to undergo the procedure. The blood tests came back within 3 days and showed his Liver enzymes were elevated, so the doctor prescribed two natural supplements for Tank and sent us home with the understanding we were to return in 1 month for a followup.
By Mid May Tank had stopped eating anything and everything! Including mom's homemade food, which he loves and begs for every day. He had lost 8-10 pounds. By Memorial Day we finally convinced the vet that he needed a medicine to get rid of the inflamation in his gums and to help him gain his appetite back. Got him on the med.... Had blood tests re-done in Late-July, we waited because he was doing so well on the med, he was eating and seemed happy and playful.
Tests came back as Liver was in failure, vet said there was nothing to be done. We thought well, ok, we take him home and love on him and make him comfortable until....
That answer just didn't sit right with Kiki! So she got on the phone the next day with another vet who happens to be a good friend. They said bring that boy in! So we did... Had an x-ray done and I believe more blood tests. That's when they found a tumor 3 times the size of Tank's heart that was pushing on his heart and lungs. It was suggested that Tank have a CT Scan done to figure out what the tumor was. By this time he had lost a total of 12 pounds...
After some calling around and speaking wtih different vets who do the scans one was found about 45 minutes away and 2 weeks later we were able to take Tank in for his scan. That was August 12, 2026. When Kiki picked him up she had a consult with the Oncologist, she informed Kiki that they did the CT Scan and a biopsy. The scan revealed some tumors in his body that she suspected to be Lymphomas so they did a biopsy. The results took about 4-5 days to come back and confirm the diagnosis.
It was the next week that Tank began his Chemotherapy treatment with our vet up here in Northern Utah. As of writing this (9/14/26) he has had 4 treatments and an x-ray to see if they are working. We are pleased to report that the main tumor has shrunk considerably and Tank is breathing easier now! Oh yeah, he's gained about 8-9 pounds back and eats everything in his path. (That's our Tank!)
He needs 13 more treatments to complete the course of chemo. All of the proceeds made here at Kiki's Leaf Lab while he is on his cancer journey will be going to nothing but his treatments!
Thank you for taking your time to meet our Tank, he means the absolute world to our family and we couldn't do it without your love and support.
